Job Title: Communications Director

The Pennsylvania RV and Camping Association is seeking a full-time employee to serve as Communications Director.

The Communications Director is integrally involved with members, volunteers, sponsors and staff to execute the association’s strategic plan. The position primarily handles projects related to marketing and membership communications including the duties listed below as well as other related items as needed by the staff team:

Communications and Marketing

  • Promote all Association programs and events.
  • Produce and manage website copy.
    • Responsible for editorial direction, design production and distribution of all printed and digital materials as directed.
    • Oversees the production of the annual membership directory/consumer guide.
      • Coordinate media interest in the Association and ensure regular contact with target media and   
         appropriate response to media requests.
      • Act as the Organization’s representative with the media.
      • Coordinate social media program with Education and Events Coordinator.
      • Develop, plan and executive public events and programs.
      • Work with Administrative and Office Assistant to maintain updated membership contacts
      • Establish relationship with member contacts.

Annual Trade Show

  • Assist the Executive Vice President as directed during the annual trade and retail show.
  • Coordinate PR and advertising efforts for the show with advertising firm.
    • Assist with special events held during the show (membership dinner, silent auction, entertainment, etc).
    • Responsible for the production of show materials including invitation, deposit kit, program email  
       blasts, poster and forms.
    • Work with Executive Vice President and Education and Events Coordinator on production of Show 
      Manual. 
    • Take photos and video during Show.
    • Manage social media accounts during Show.
    • Oversees Show’s mobile app.
    • Promotes Show Sponsorships.

Advertising Campaigns
Work with advertising firm to coordinate and implement the spring advertising campaign.

Committees

  • Facilitates meets as staff liaison for various committees.
  • Provides support to each committee as needed.
  • Attend committee meetings as directed by Executive Vice President
  • Take minutes for various committee meetings.

Legislative

  • Tracks legislation as assigned by Executive Vice President.
    • Provides backup to the Executive Vice President in answering member questions and conduction of research.
    • Attend PAC fundraising events as directed by Executive Vice President.

Financial
Prepare annual budget as it relates to the communication needs of the Association.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Applicant should demonstrate ability to coordinate all phases of the Association’s marketing and membership communication and be able to work closely with the Executive Vice President and other staff members to executive the work of the Association and have:

  • Education level of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications or a comparable related experience.
  • 5 years of experience in communications field (non-profit experience preferred)
  • Experience running email, social media, content marketing and digital marketing campaigns
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Create Suite.
  • Experience in volunteer management
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail while keeping the overall goals of a project in mind
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement
  • Ability to develop and executive marketing/communication strategy
  • Excellent creative copywriting and editing skills
