10 Ways to LOSE Members
1 CAE Credit Hour CAE Domanin 3: Membership Development
To maximize membership, you are looking for innovative solutions, new ideas, or a more compelling offer. But have you considered that your recruitment and retention problems may be self-inflicted? In this interactive session, we’ll take a humorous look at 10 common practices that may be alienating the very members you are working so hard to engage.
Explore how your messaging, processes, or attitudes may actually be driving members away! Learn how to assess your communications and programs from the members’ point of view and realign them. Take away practical tips for making your membership activities more user-friendly, member-focused, and effective.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the real message your association is sending members by shifting your perspective 180 degrees — to your members’ point of view.
- Leverage this new perspective to identify the “taken-for-granted” practices, procedures, and messaging that may be unintentionally alienating your members.
- Boost retention and engagement rates, by realigning your membership messaging and practices to make them more member-focused.
