The changing landscape of the 21st century requires governance based on much more than the often opinion-rich and information-poor decision making of the past.

 In response to the evolving realties of leadership of today’s associations, this workshop is filled with examination of research based effective practices, practical examples, conversation focused on application to your own organization. humor and insight.  Discussions  will be guided by Glenn Tecker, Chairman and Co-CEO of Tecker International LLC and  examine how member and staff leaders :

  • Make more confident decisions;
  • Sustain effective partnership; and
  • Earn the engagement and support of their members and communities.

This very interactive session examines approaches to governance preferred by member leaders and executive officers, who want the board to lead, govern and set direction.  As an added bonus, volunteer leaders tell us that much of the content is covered in a way that makes it applicable to both association and their business leadership.

The exemplary instructional design provides an opportunity for the staff executive to connect with his or her board chair and other officers to define annual priorities and determine how to work better together. The one day program provides insight into challenges facing association leaders and highlights the value of informed policy and strategy as primary tools of the leadership team. The result is a common understanding and commitment to the key components of successful governance, strategy and organization.

Critical Issues in Association Leadership is designed specifically for leadership teams from organizations. Exercises throughout the program allow for substantive dialogue between staff and volunteer leaders and provide opportunities to establish a strong working relationship.

The one day learning experience has been described by its graduates as” the perfect opportunity to build a strong partnership and establish a culture of trust.” Hundreds of associations have discovered the significant role Critical Issues in Association Leadership can play in creating mutual success with their current or incoming leaders.

All attest to the uniqueness of each session, content focused on the actual challenges and opportunities participants are addressing, and the unparalleled value of the experience.

Because this session isn't just about "what to do" - but also examines "how", Glenn facilitates the group through simulated mini-case studies, organizational self-assessments, and practical checklists based on research and experience.  Participants identify and address real issues and opportunities of their organization.
