Digital and Social Media Manager

 The Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA) is a trade association representing skilled nursing, assisted living and personal care communities in Pennsylvania. PHCA is committed to promoting members’ common interests in creating and sustaining a robust quality care delivery system for Pennsylvania’s aging and disabled individuals. PHCA is looking for a skilled communicator to support the organization’s advocacy efforts, enhance the brand value of its members, and support the internal and external communications strategy.

The person in this position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive digital media strategy to promote member interests and support priorities of the association. The position is also responsible for developing and managing a social media content calendar and day-to-day digital communication and engagement plan targeting the PHCA membership, public, legislators and media.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Social Media

  • Manage daily media posts (Facebook, Twitter) in support of PHCA priorities.
  • Actively solicit member content to promote through social media in support of PHCA priorities to target audiences.
  • Assess social media metrics to measure effectiveness of social media activities.

Manage the PHCA Website

  • Manage the content on the PHCA website including design and regular updates.
  • Manage the listing of job postings, news clips, blog and other regular updates.
  • Manage website or its successor which drives consumers to PHCA facilities.
  • Regularly consult with PHCA staff and consultants on opportunities for website enhancements.

Mass Communications

  • Draft and coordinate communications to members or targeted subsets of members whether from the President and CEO or other association representatives using mass mailing tools.
  • Coordinate communications to the boards of directors.


  • Provide support in setting up and disseminating content for presenters at PHCA events and webinars.

Daily activities

  • Promotions

Qualifications include:

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Skill and competency as a creative writer
  • Skill and experience in website management (Word Press)
  • Awareness of and proficiency with communications technologies
  • Skill and proficiency in utilizing social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and emerging digital channels)
