This is one of the premier state associations in the country.

The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association (PNA) and Mid-Atlantic Newspaper Services, Inc. (MANSI Media) seeks a President/CEO who is a passionate, skilled leader, strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to develop and implement strategies in support of the organization’s mission to serve the needs of approximately 250 newspaper and affiliate members.

The PNA is a non-profit, dues supported association dedicated to protecting freedom of the press and promoting the business interests and professional development of its members. The Association provides legislative representation, legal assistance, conventions, training programs, publications, research, awards programs, technical support and general assistance.

MANSI Media is a for-profit entity that manages PNA operations and places print and digital advertising in newspapers and their integrated products.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to meet the needs of PNA’s members.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to promote the strengths of the news media industry.
  • Work closely with the Boards to further the organizations’ missions, visions and goals.
  • Inform and advise the Board regarding current trends, concerns and activities to facilitate policymaking.
  • Recommend policy positions regarding legislation and regulation and other governmental and public policy activities that affect the membership.
  • Plan, recommend for approval and operate within an annual budget.
  • Optimize staff performance by clearly defining duties, establish performance standards, conduct performance reviews and maintain competitive salary structure.
  • Maintain open communication with the Board, PNA members and employees and governmental bodies and agencies.
  • Serve as an active ambassador representing the interests of PNA and the news media industry.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Association or newspaper experience related to business management that includes the understanding of financial and not-for-profit management.
  • Understanding of working with volunteer committees and Board of Directors.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
  • Superior analytical and financial aptitude.
  • Ability to make decisions on a timely basis.
  • Extensive knowledge about the news media industry and governmental policies (Pennsylvania and federal) affecting the industry.
  • Team building leadership experience and the ability to motivate others.
  • Understanding and able to help drive sales and overseeing a P and L
